I could rave on and on about this place but just look at the pictures instead! Read on about the biggest secret on site….
Decor – beautiful minimal contemporary beach theme
Rooms – we had a Corner Suite on the 9th floor. The balcony was incredible but extremely windy during our visit. The benefit of the Corner was that we could pull the table and chairs to the side of the building at night to try to minimize the wind. The only downside to the room is there isn’t a lounge chair on the balcony. Also, the room has Bluetooth speakers throughout but we didn’t figure out where the button to pair it was until the last day (it’s under the tv)
Service – we visited Fernando every morning in the lobby bar for daiquiris and he made us all kinds of fresh combinations! Also had Maria take fantastic care of us every afternoon on the beach and by the pool.
Food – Mediocre at best. The gourmet restaurant was horrible. The best meal we had was on Thursday night at LaBarca during the Pink Party. It’s only on Thursday nights and they have a steak and lobster buffet that has surprisingly great shrimp! I highly recommend you email ahead of your trip to make reservations as I heard others checking in around us and they only got reservations for about half their stay. Guacamole with chips and curly fries on the beach were great snacks.
Pool/beach – we only went to the Prestige pool and part of the beach but we were fully impressed and didn’t feel the need to check out the rest where the families were. The pool was about chest high on me and had lounge chairs in the water. The beach was extreme lean and beautiful. There was quite a bit of seaweed in the ocean but it was “dry” so we swam everyday for a bit anyway. If you can snag a day bed, it’s a great place to take a nap and Maria will bring you lunch. Also love that you don’t have to have a towel card – they freely give them out!
Ok, now for the best kept secret – late check out showers! Check out is at noon and you can use the resort until 6. In the lobby, across from the excursion desk, is an unremarkable door labeled with a shower head picture. There are 2 COMPLETE and separate bathrooms behind this door for guests to use! I included a picture because I was so impressed. We checked out in the morning so we wouldn’t have to pay the $10 per hour late check out fee, gave the concierge our bags to hold, and went to swim in the pool. We drank, swam, and ate lunch. About 30 minutes before our transport arrived, we went to the lobby showers so we wouldn’t have sunscreen or salt water on our skin for the long flight! Brilliant example of great customer service.
